The Foret d'Orient Regional Nature Parc holds a rich cultural an architectural history. Therefore, many museums and sites showing this heritage can be visited. Windmill of Dosches

Finished in Spring 2007, the Moulin de Dosches was reconstructed using traditional techniques from the C18th. Espace Faune de la Forêt d'Orient

Situated on a 89 ha peninsula of the Lac d'Orient,  between Mesnil-St-Père and the Maison du Parc, a special place allowing the discovery of mammals populating the forests of yesterday and today.

With a little patience and keeping as quiet as possible discover, from three observatories on the edge of the woods deer, roe deer and wild boar
as well as tarpan,auroch and elk.  Living in semi-captivity in their natural milieu , the animals are more easily seen at the end of the day.

Ecomuseum in the Orient's forest

-The Cartwright’s Workshop

Just before the Great War, three brothers competed to see which of them could be the most ingenious in improving their ancestral know-know as farriers and cartwrights. In their workshop, beside the venerable forge and horseshoe table a tangle of belts and pulleys run from a « locomobile »which drives machine-tools from another age, such as the tower, which makes five spokes for cartwheels at the same time. The Cartwright's workshop has been wonderfully restored in its original condition, and the young will marvel and the old feel pangs of nostalgia when looking at it.

- The "House of days and fields"

One of the finest collections of agricultural tools and equipment in France, from ancient times to the modern tractor, so that you can experience man’s inexorable faith in the conquest of the land. In a perfect state of restoration and in the colours of the time, the collection is accompanied by an audiovisual montage which traces the environment and rural life at the time.

-The Museum of remarkable Structures

Some remarkable barns have been rebuilt on this site, such as a barn with an entrance hall and a barn with a treadmill, both wonderful because of their size and their beauty. Also a home from the beginning of the XXth century has been created.
 

Educational Farm

A 17th Century farm, located in the southern end of the natural park, nearby the lake d'Orient. Claudette and Alain will be delighted to show you their farm and share their passion and knowledge in a genuine athmosphere.
The farm includes 65 dairy cows, 60 heifers, 20 veals, 120 ha of land with cornfileds, wheat fields, fresh meadow, etc...

Champagne Cellars visits

Champagne , the must for parties, has a worldwide reputation..

The production area is delimited by a law of  1927.  The appellation d’origine contrôlée (AOC) covers some 34,000 hectares. Situated in   France at about 150 kilometres to the east of Paris, it includes 319 different crus (communes) in five departements : the Marne (67%), the Aube (23%), the Aisne (9%), the Haute-Marne and Seine-et-Marne.  

In the Aube-en-Champagne, several communes in the Forêt d'Orient Regional Nature Park are also classed as AOC Champagne (Dolencourt, Bossancourt, Trannes, Argançon).

Several Champagne cellars, members of the Park's Intercommunal Tourist Office, offer the discovery of this noble drink by visits and/or tastings. For further information, click on the following links :
